Riot 99 - Destroy The City

Year: 2001
Label: Riot Records

Tracks:

1. Destroy The City

2. Start A Riot

Surprisingly excellent and catchy UK street punk worship. Destroy The City also appears on Schizophrenic Records' Toronto City Omnibus comp with the awesome track, Decade On The Dole. What a cool band. I can't find the pressing info of this 7" but I'm pretty sure that it has only been pressed on red wax.

Reprobates - Stress EP

Year: 2008
Label: No Way Records

Tracks:

1. Failure
2. Rat Maze

3. Stress
4. Abandoned City
5. Gone To Shit

Likely one of the most underrated Toronto records of all time. Jerry's Kids are possibly my favorite 80s hardcore band and I've never heard a band that's sounded more similar to them. Everything from the raspy vocals, to the pulsing riffs and the uncontrollable drum beats resembles Boston's finest. This is also the only Toronto record to be put out on Richmond, Virginia's excellent No Way Records. 1000 of these were initially pressed, with 200 mail order copies on white with red and black labels, and another 800 on black with black and white labels.
The test pressing comes with a cool (and mildly daring) alternate sleeve and is limited to 17 copies although I believe that No Way told the band that there were only 6. 500 of these fuckers were also done for a second pressing, and 300 of them are missing lyrics due to a misprint of the insert. Awesome, awesome record. Go buy one.

Random Killing - This Whole World

Year: 1989
Label: Aardvark Records

Tracks:

1. Kill Your Parents
2. Praise Education
3. No Use
4. Subway Suicide

5. This Whole World
6. S.O.L.
7. Killer Weed
8. Throw It Away

Goofy, but pretty solid punk. Sounds sort of like the Dictators if they did shit in the late 80s. Don't know how many of these were pressed, but I don't think there are too many.

RAH - The Truth Will Reveal Itself

Year: 2009
Label: Labeled Records

Tracks:

1. The Truth
2. Keep Walking
3. Good Intentions
4. Not Now, Not Ever

5. Change
6. All I Know
7. Think Again
8. It Won't Last

RAH's second and last 7" on Stuck In The City's shortlived Labeled Records. This 7" also rips, with RAH playing heavy-hitting moshy hardcore without coming off as bro-ey. There are a million variants of this one too. What I've got here is the record release edition limited to 50 (left) and the Radio Silence Weekend (right) one out of 20. The record release edition comes in grey vinyl, with another 134 on grey with a regular sleeve (pictured in the middle). The Radio Silence comes on light blue, of which there are another 26 in regular sleeves. There are also 19 on lime vinyl, 25 on greyish blue, 45 on guacamole vinyl, 61 on blue, 66 on purple, and 108 on teal. Jeeez.

RAH - Intelligent Design

Year: 2008
Label: Chez Ogilvie Records

Tracks:

1. Leave Me Alone
2. Reality Check
3. Peace Of Mind

4. FTW
5. In The End
6. Time Will Tell

Here's a 7" on the more hardcore side of hardcore punk. Put out on an Aussie label, this record comes in many variants, including this one with an alternate record release sleeve out of 30 on orange vinyl, another 100 with regular covers on orange, 100 on black, 20 with a pre-cover, and 200 on a black second press.

Pinkeye - Worldwide Columbine

Year: 2006
Label: Slasher Records

Tracks:

1. How To Rob An Indie Rock Star
2. 1 Pink 2 Blues

3. In Praise Of School Shooters
4. Behind The Shoe
5. THCO
6. Nothing Left

The Pinkeye 7" repressed onto a 12" with a bonus track. 300 first pressings on clear and 700 second pressings on black. First press came shrinkwrapped with a parental advisory sticker over ol' Pinkeye's junk. Also comes with a green insert which features art on the back, which isn't featured on the second press. 14 test presses of this exist and are apparently on square vinyl with ULTRA politically incorrect art.

Pinkeye - In Praise Of School Shooters EP

Year: 2005
Label: Slasher Records

Tracks:

1. How To Rob An Indie Rock Star
2. 1 Pink 2 Blues

3. In Praise Of School Shooters
4. Behind The Shoe
5. THCO

Damian Abraham's politically incorrect side project band with Jonah Falco, offering bare bones hardcore tracks on murdering indie rockstars and shooting up jocks at school. Ironically enough, by the next time Damian sang a track with "shoe" in the title, he too became an indie rockstar. Still though, this is a cool 7" with 1350 on pink, 110 on white, 88 on gold, 10 on orange, 8 test presses on black, 4 on puke vinyl, 2 on white with pink swirl, 2 on grey with white swirl. Classic Slasher release. Damian also destroyed an extra 20 orange ones which come in the Pinkeye box set, along with a tee, some 7"s, and a dart set. I'm looking to pick one of these up so there'll be pictures posted.

Phallocracy - We're Coming To Your Town, We're Going To Party Down

Year: ?
Label: Self-Released

Tracks:

1. Be Young, Have Fun, Bend Over
2. Disrespect Is Everything

3. Still Don't Believe
4. Fur Purse

More goofy hardcore by Phallocracy. I have no idea when this record came out but there are 300 hand-numbered records with hand-drawn labels on white vinyl.

Phallocracy - The Vulva Crunch EP

Year: 1994
Label: At Your Servicks

Tracks:

1. Power 30
2. I Saw Elvis And He's A Pig
3. Religion Shouldn't Be This Way Either
4. What Goes Around Comes Back Again
5. Don't Treat Me Bad
6. Outside Looking In
7. One Good Reason

8. Eat My Caviar
9. Gap
10. The Pain
11. Love Is Murder
12. Hair Shirt
13. Suck Me Dry And Call Me Dusty
14. Sermon On The Mount
15. In Between

To Toronto's credit, Phallocracy was technically from Barrie, even though they were associated with the Toronto hardcore scene. This is probably the most shameful record in Toronto's history. I don't mean that in a bad way though. Although this record is totally ridiculous, it's not all that bad, just fast, snotty hardcore with an aesthetic that is similar to what Lookout! Records' stuff in the late 80s and early 90s. Wacky layout too. Purple 10" with a cardboard cutout "sleeve" and some stickers. Serious lols.

Owl Eyes - The Seventh Circle

Year: 2011
Label: Blank Stare Hardcore

Tracks:

1. Devastation
2. Alleyways

3. Throwing Bricks Through Car Windows
4. Obey
5. Anxiety

Despite their Eatern woodland sounding name, Owl Eyes played some crushing hardcore on the heavier side of the spectrum. Jose from S.H.I.T. and Eating Glass sang in this band. This record comes with one of 5 different sleeves, each numbered out of 54 copies and based on one of the songs. I believe this is the Devastation cover.

One Blood - Building A World Of Prosperity With The Efficiency Of The Free Enterprise System

Year: 1992
Label: Gern Blandsten

Tracks:

1. Indian Summer
2. Settler Nations
3. Make The Links
4. Reform Party
5. Safe
6. Can You Feel It?

7. Operation Exodus
8. The Heat Is On
9. Uncle Joe's Revenge
10. Guardian Angel
11. Life Vision
12. Opinion Control In The Democracies

Possibly the longest titled record in Toronto history, One Blood's full length release is regrettably overshadowed by their self-titled EP. Although the politically confrontational nature of the band is still there, the songwriting appears to be an afterthought.

One Blood - S/T

Year: 1990
Label: Lobotomy Exchange Records

Tracks:

1. Not So Mysterious Histories
2. Friends
3. Speedy 'Just Us'
4. Yankee Parasite
5. Decimation

6. Respect
7. Mid 20's Crisis
8. Faith Based On Starvation
9. Purple Stains

olid political hardcore with a goofy Hendrix spoof at the end and a very dreadlocked Stephe Perry on vocals. One Blood very much exemplifies the aesthetic and sound one associates with 90s hardcore (the 7" features a booklet with essays written on racism by band members), but I think this record is really decent.  I like the idea of the booklet too.

Negative Gain - Back From The Dead

Year: 1986
Label: Pusmort Records

Tracks:

1. No Life At All
2. Face First
3. Descend On Youth
4. Dark Places
5. Nuclear Winter
6. Live Or Die
7. We Believe
8. Night Stalker
9. One Way Livin'
10. President's Women
11. Piss Me Off!

12. Back From The Dead
13. Situation All Fucked Up!
14. When The Pounding Stops
15. Psychic Hours
16. Destiny's Uncertain
17. What's The Reason
18. Loss Of Self
19. Night Of The Rat
20. My Old Man

Lightning fast thrashy hardcore in the vein of D.R.I. Pretty solid release actually. This band has a cool history too. They opened for some pretty legendary acts such as Circle Jerks, Gang Green, 7 Seconds, and Descendents. Apparently Pushead liked their demo tape so much when they sent it in for a review that he agreed to put out this LP. The record was also produced by Youth Youth Youth's Brian Taylor.

The Murder Squad T.O./Bloodsuckingfreaks split

Year: 2001
Label: Wounded Paw Records

1. The Murder Squad T.O. - Blackened By The Vision Of God
2. The Murder Squad T.O. - Aimless
3. The Murder Squad T.O. - Spiritually Devastated
4. The Murder Squad T.O. - Bad World

5. Bloodsuckingfreaks - Electrohell
6. Bloodsuckingfreaks - Forsaken
7. Bloodsuckingfreaks - Baby's Dead Stare

Blackened by the vision of God? More like Deafened by the Sound of Blah. This record is awful. Murder Squad plays some uninspired puke punk disguised as crust and I don't even know what Bloodsuckingfreaks are but if their name isn't bad enough to put you off this record, you probably deserve what's coming to you.

More Stupid Initials - S/T

Year: 1987
Label:Bring Your Own Bands Records

Tracks:

1. The Generic Straightedge Song
2. Satan Hellfuck
3. Addict
4. Shopping Mall Massacre

5. The Wizard Of Oz
6. Back In Control
7. Midway
8. Choice
9. Deep Inside

Totally goofy straight edge hardcore from Etobicoke. A dreadlocked Stephe Perry sang back up vox on some tracks. This sounds kind of like if Deep Wound played in the early NYHC scene.

More Stupid Initials - An Amazing Feat

Year: 1988
Label: Bucko-5

Tracks:

1. Daydream
2. Shoelace
3. Macho Man

4. Border Song
5. Make My Day
6. Rear View Mirror

Not Mindless Self Indulgence but More Stupid Initials. Goofy straight edge hardcore from the late 80's. Pretty cool 7" actually.

Molested Youth - We're Always Going To Have Breakfast Alone

Year: 2010
Label: Deranged Records

Tracks:

1. It Only Makes You Worse
2. Recycled Life
3. Wasted Nights

4. Reparations
5. Live Fast, Die Young, Fuck Off
6. Dead World

It's really a shame that Molested Youth broke up so soon after releasing this excellent 7". Six songs of fast, ignorant, and chaotic hardcore. This one has the limited SEX sleeve out of 25 included, from the record release show. Numbered on the back too.

Millenial Reign - Bones Dust Nothing

Year: 2010
Label: A389 Recordings

Tracks:

1. I Start Fires With My Mind
2. Moore's Law

3. Irrational Distain
4. Luminous Veil

Definitely one of the most underrated Toronto records I can think of. Millenial Reign was a short lived side project comprised of Damian Abraham of Fucked Up, Jordan Posner of Terror and No Warning, and Jesse Labovitz of No Warning doing Integrity worship Clevo-style hardcore (they even spelt millennial wrong, just like Integrity). This may sound stupid, but I actually prefer listening to Millenial Reign to listening to Integrity. This 7" is seriously great though. Guest vox provided by Chris Colohan and George Pettit from Alexisonfire, awesome lyrics, and a thundering intensity. The first song, I Start Fires With My Mind, undoubtably my favourite. Most of these were done on purple marble vinyl but there's 200 copies on white as well, and as I later found out via Ebay, 13 copies of this were done on sort of a marble grey vinyl, and I am fortunate enough to have found one.

Mature Situations - These Old Hands

Year: 2010
Label: Deranged Records

Tracks:

1. These Old Hands
2. Groundhog Day

3. Scooters On The Streets
4. Forced Retirement

More geezercore provided by Colohan & Company. I'd probably say that I like this 7" a bit more than the first one. Also comes on limited pink vinyl. There appears to be a picture of some dude getting raped on the back which is kinda fucked.

Mature Situations - Cracked Pelvis EP

Year: 2009
Label: Free Cake Records

Tracks:

1. Fuck The Kids
2. Veterans Days
3. Soylent Old

4. Six Feet Deep
5. Shrapnel Catcher

Hilarious prunejuicecore featuring Chris Colohan and a bunch of other geezers. Comes in a very beautiful 500 on clear teal vinyl, with 60 on clear in a red cover with transparent overlay as the band press and another 40 on clear in a yellow cover with transparent overlay as a pre-order press.

Marilyn's Vitamins - Meanwhile During The Class War

Year: 1999
Label: Ugly Pop Records

Tracks:

1. The Executions Of May 16th 1998
2. It's Good To Be Here

3. Ernst Zundel, Voltaire, And Me
4. I Consume, Therefore I Am

Political pop punk from the 90's. Very 90's feeling to this record even though it came out as late as '99. Limited to 600 first pressings with yellow labels and 500 second pressings with red labels. I think there's also an alternate cover of this limited to 22.
