Welcome

Whether it has been called Toxic City, No York, Hogtown, or even My Hometown, Toronto has been one of the most prolific sources of hardcore punk in the world for over a decade now. The influence of recent Toronto-based bands such as Fucked Up, Career Suicide, and Brutal Knights has placed Toronto in the league of cities with noteworthy scenes, such as Austin, Boston, New York, or Chicago. But that isn't all. Toronto has had a rich history of diverse punk and hardcore even prior to the early-2000s influx of old school revival bands, dating back to the early 1980s. This blog will examine Toronto's hardcore history through what I hope will eventually be a comprehensive archive of Toronto vinyl. Here, I intend to provide a database of Toronto hardcore vinyl as a resource for people to be able to learn about the city's bands and their output over a vast stretch of time. The blog will also be of value to fellow record geeks, hoping to learn pressing information and variants of Toronto hardcore records. Collecting the records for this blog has been difficult and I am still missing many titles. I do not have the energy or resources to even consider a collection of cassette tapes over the course of Toronto's history. The few test presses I can get my hands on will be featured as well. Before I begin posting records, I'd also like to give thanks to some individuals who helped me find some of the titles I had been looking for. Many thanks to Michael Grdosic, Ivan Roberts-Davis, Brett Hammer City, Mark Pesci, Dave KW, Greg Benedetto, Damian Abraham, and Martin Farkas for their help in this project.
